I started reading Dutch translations of Georgette Heyer's books
as a teenager and later also bought English editions.
Yesterday I finished reading a lovely old 1951 hardback edition of
'The Talisman Ring', which I bought second hand recently. A
very entertaining story and full of humour. Georgette Heyer at her
best... |

Frederica, Sylvester the Toll Gate and Regency Buck were all good. I
can always count on a Georgette Heyer for an enjoyable read and
respite from today's frenetic pace. |

I was first introduced to Georgette Heyer at the age of eleven, when
my dad gave me a copy of 'Devil's Cub' to keep me
entertained while I was recovering from flu. I later discovered my
great grandmother's stash of early editions, and proceeded to
read them until the pages fell out. I remain to this day, a
tremendous fan of the lady's unquestionable style which so well
represents her own genre. |

Hi Bob,
i think its great how you got into georgette heyer as she is
wonderful, i think that the Grand Sophy is one of her best books but
These old shades, and Devils Cub are incredibly good they are full of
humour and adverture The Masqueraders is also a wonderful book, but
all heyer books contain adventure and wit and i love being emersed in
her stories, i hope this helps you further your heyer reading |

I was introduced to M. Heyer by a dear English friend of mine. I
absolutely love her books and try to share them with all my reading
friends. It is too hard to decide which book I like best because each
new one I read becomes my new favorite. Thanks for devoting a site to
her and for the great bio info.! |

Hi Keren,
The Duke of Avon is at least 65 years old in Devils Cub. He is over 40
years old in These Old Shades when he marries Leonie and his son is 24
years old in Devils Cub.
Hope this helps! |

Good Afternoon,
I've been reading Georgette Heyer for over 25 years. I've
very hard pressed to find any of her books in the local libraries. So
I thought - ck. the internet!! Duh! So I am delighted to find this
site. I had no idea there are so many fans. It's great news. I
look forward to frequent visits. |

Do you know how old The Duke of Avon is in the Devil's Cub? I
didn't think that he was older than 50 but I can't find out
precisely. If anyone could let me know, that would be wonderful. |

Very informative site. I first encountered Heyer in a rather
roundabout way. I'm a big fan of the narrative skills of British
actor, John Westbrook. One of the books he narrated on tape (ISIS
Audio Books) was The Grand Sophy. There is certainly no way I would
ever have chosen to read a romance novel of my own free will, but
since John Westbrook was the narrator, I felt that I'd at least
enjoy the delivery. Imagine my shock and surprise when I found myself
more caught up in the story and characters than in the performance! I
couldn't wait to hear what would happen next. Me, a respectable
50+ teacher of literature carried away by a romance novel! Well,
I'm an unashamed fan now. Heyer's sprited style is addictive
and I'd like to read more. Can The Grand Sophy be topped?? What
would you recommend next for a male Heyer-neophyte? |

Georgette Heyer is a late discovery of mine as I was at university
before I read anything by her. The first books I read were Simon the
Coldheart and Frederica and I have now only got Royal Escape to read
and then I can say that I have read all of her inprint historicals. My
favourite novel is Venetia, followed in no particular order by the
Alastair series, The Black Moth, The Corinthian, The Masqueraders and
Cotillion. However the book I am dying to get my hands on is The Great
Roxhythe. The international copyright is up and it has been published
abroad but the rumours I heard that Arrow were going to publish it
seem to have been just that. Does anyone know when the British
copyright is up? |

Thanks for a very interesting site with good links. I am a huge fan of
Georgette Heyer,I read my first one when I was 12 years old and have
since read them all, most of them many times - there is always
something new to enjoy the next time: a little nugget of humour, a
piece of furniture so well-described, an historical allusion to follow
up, some elegant phraseology. I have almost all the Regency books, two
copies of many of them in case one wears out . . . . |

Hi Susan,
Are you thinking about making the books into movies? The reason
I'm asking is that I know a director. So I was just wondering. |

Dear Webmaster,
I have never done this before so I hope I am doing it correctly. I
was trying to find out who owned the rights to the books for film
production. |

Hi Susan,
I'm not sure who owns the rights now as Heyer's son recently
passed away. So far as I know he was represented in these matters by
Peter Janson-Smith in London...he would be the first person to
contact, I would guess. If you get any more up-to-date information
that I can put up on the website, it would be great to pass it
back.

Sally. |

I just can't get enough of these books! My sister is a retired
librarian and turned me on to Georgette and I have been in heaven ever
since.
I am attempting to have my own collection so that I can read them over
and over! |
